Alcohol Addiction

Much of what medical science knows about dieting and recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction began as a study of criminal justice in Texas. The epidemiologists noted in the 1960s that mental hospitalization rates and homicide rates were the lowest in 24 sites of Texas counties submitted the highest concentration of lithium in tap water.
Subsequent studies in California found that the theft of robbery homicide, suicide, forcible rape,,, possession of narcotics, and among young people running away were much lower in cities that have high concentrations of lithium in tap water. The clinical trials found that former users of heroin and methamphetamines (crystal meth) were given 400 micrograms of natural lithium in the form of a yeast for four weeks showed higher scores on tests of psychological measurement of happiness, friendship, and energy.
The lithium deficiency does not cause addiction to drugs, but drug use seems to lithium deplete. The amount of lithium taken as a nutritional supplement in this test was 0.1 percent lower than the standard dose used to treat bipolar disorder (1000-1800 mg / day).
Lithium is readily absorbed from food and is distributed throughout the body. In general, diets that are high in whole grains and vegetables provide more lithium than diets rich in animal proteins. North American diets provide 400-2900 micrograms of lithium to day. Tap water can provide significant additional lithium.
The water from the tap in West Texas reaches a concentration of 170 micrograms per liter, add about 340 micrograms of lithium daily consumption of food. This relatively small amount of lithium may have a significant impact on mental health.
Average dietary intake of lithium in different countries
China (Xi'an) 1560 micrograms
Mexico (Tijuana) 1485
Sweden (Stockholm) 1090
United States (Galveston, TX) 820
Kingdom, United States (New York) 650
Germany (Munich) 400
Austria (Vienna) 50
The best sources Lithium food are tomatoes, potatoes, green peppers and hot. What is more important that you begin to abstain from drugs to start eating foods that contain lithium. Since lithium mood elevators, addicts who are not yet abstention are less likely to begin to abstain if they consume food containing lithium.
Several drug users, consumers of long-term drug and drug users who have multiple sex partners tend to have deficiencies of vitamins in the vitamin group A. (People who have multiple sexual partners have high rates of exposure to papilloma virus, the virus accelerates the growth of mucosal tissues, the tissue growth of the mucosa and the formation of warts depletes vitamin A) HIV in the recovery of drug addicts is associated with malnutrition subclinical women and men. The researchers found that HIV + men in recovery from addiction tend to consume diets high in fat, but insufficient calories, and have deficiencies in virtually all the nutrients found in vegetables or foods containing "good" fats as folic acid, magnesium, vitamin B6, vitamin E and zinc.
