State Funded Drug Rehabs

State or Government Funded Versus Private Drug Rehab

What is the difference between a state and funded private drug rehab? Is it worth investing thousands of dollars on a treatment program when the state offers rehabilitation for free? Perhaps we should try a program funded by the state first and if that does not work than you can try a private pay program. Certainly you want the best program for your loved one, but no guarantees, How do we know if it will work? All questions and statements that are common when a family first starts investigation of Drug Rehabilitation Programs on the Internet. There are many factors to consider and hopefully answer any questions and educate you in this important process.

Is there a difference between funds state and a private facility? Of course, as a matter of fact, most state-funded programs only provide a traditional treatment program including 12-step method and therapy replacement drugs. Unfortunately state funding programs funded or government funded and government other resources, large pharmaceutical companies. This is big business in drug rehabilitation for drug companies to fund these state or government-run facilities so that they can prescribe medication to "treat" addiction. Not to mention the state or government funded programs also use the 12 step philosophy for the entire treatment is in a group environment in which they do not offer individual advice.

A Drug Rehab Center will offer private alternative treatment step 12 and provide some sort of protocol usually comprehensive and possibly a drug-free environment. Though some private programs still prescribe drugs such as antidepressants, sedatives, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers and blockers opiates, make sure you stay away from these places because all they are doing is substituting one drug for another. It is clear that sometimes medications are necessary, and detoxification in an environment where a person may be out of opiates, or certain prescription drugs. In this case, where good medical detoxification a doctor prescribes certain drugs to stop the withdrawal symptoms is essential for recovery, but should only be short term at around one or two weeks.

Another factor to consider is the environment and living facility. Granted some private treatment center offers an environment or vacation resort style sometimes they can communicate the wrong reasons why a person is in drug rehab some people are used to this type of service and feel more comfortable. It is important that a person feels comfortable, safe and learning other important life skills as a healthy lifestyle. Proper exercise, fitness, healthy food, and vitamins and minerals are important therapy for a person to change their old lifestyle of bad habits for a new lifestyle. These major changes to health of a person and diet are not offered in a state or government funded drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Despite all these things you should consider when find an inpatient drug rehab most important thing is matching a program that meets to the needs of the addicted person. Each person who is addicted to alcohol or drugs has his own personal problems and issues. Not all drug Rehab Centers will deliver what you need the individual addict. Before proposing drug rehab as an option for your loved one who has an addiction problem to be sure reduced to one or two facilities.
