Residential Addiction Treatment

Does anyone have experience with ECT?
I add 3 major depressive disorder recurrence and the last treatment has been resistant to last 5yrs. Also I have PTSD, self harm, Chem Addiction, limit of Parkinson's disease. Ideology and previous suicide attempts. I'm considering ECT, hoping we can blast some of the depression so they can focus on addressing other issues. I'm interested in hearing your experience, positive or negative, and I would like whether the treatment was inpatient or outpatient. I have no local family support, so it would be considering residential program. Please no smart alec answers, this is a very serious situation for me. Thank you.
I had several major depressive episodes in my life, along with chronic refractory depression and posttraumatic stress disorder. BPD you are indicating that even having a genetic component to it, also includes early childhood trauma. My PTSD is chronic and complex and began with early childhood trauma, memories of which are, for the most part, amnesia repressed (psychogenic). I found that deal with the emotions I felt in relation to trauma, rather than worry about trying to remember the trauma, which was able to release the energy that the trauma. As a result, my depression lifted. I have no personal experience with ECT. I have met a number of people with bipolar disorder (mainly depression) for whom TEC balance restored and then were able to deal with other issues. A support system is extremely important. You can include professionals, residents, etc. If you go into a program residential treatment will be assigned a case manager (social worker) to help. You may also want to consider going to www.mentalhealthrecovery.com and use Mary Ellen Copeland's WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) to help in their recovery. Contact the Mental Health Association or depression Bipolar Support Alliance chapter for assistance and support, including a certified Mental Health Peer recovery.
