It depends on what actions recovering alcoholic with your doctor. If your doctor learns that you are a recovering addict, are very reluctant to prescribe anything other than a high dose of NSAIDs. (Ibuprofen, naproxen, prescription). Controlled substances most likely not prescribed. Perhaps it could be prescribed tramadol or Toradol. It really depends on the injury.
