What is the best way to get rid of a cold sore?
I have had this cold sore for about nine days from 12/10/2009. It is on the lower lip a little left of center. As for looking around online I've noticed these possible treatments, without visiting a doctor: Abreva, Carmex, Bag Balm. To each his own but what would be the best in treatment, I am willing to spend a little of this as a course of treatment within a short period time is the goal. Also a track or two "good bust / pop and cold sores then apply the treatment?" Would apply something cold or even alcohol help too? Thank you.
Cold sores take about two weeks to heal and application of a cream Abreva drying and help. Do not break blisters small open, this only spreads the virus around the area and the next cold sore you get will be even greater. Clean the area with soap and water, dry it and apply drying cream twice a day. Then, wait for it to heal.
