In February 2004, a young 16 year old girl in Connecticut went to a party with friends. She took a powder of the popular drug known as ecstasy with friends went into convulsions and died later. In April 2004, a 14 year old in California took Ecstasy at a sleepover with two friends and died after an overdose.

These stories are not uncommon, in fact, 2.6 million teenagers reported having tried ecstasy in 2003 and hundreds of teenagers have died taking these medicines, according to the Substance Abuse And Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Ecstasy is used by children in their early and late adolescence 20 years, because it promotes a feeling of euphoria over the release of a product chemical called serotonin in the brain (the same chemical that, when present, is associated with depression).

The drug, the chemical name MDMA or 3-4 methylenedioxymethamphetamine, is different from other illegal drugs that many children mistakenly believe that is safe. Common class white children, average and high, Ecstasy, also called the hug drug, beans, Adam, XTC and love the drug is considered a safe way to get a pleasant feeling of intense high.

Ecstasy tablets can be brightly colored and often contain cartoon characters and fun logos that appeal to children.

Combines stimulant and hallucinogenic properties that allow children to stay awake and energetic, so it is a popular drug at raves (dance parties at night) and clubs dance. The aspirin tablets companies targeting children and even contain logos and cartoon shapes such as crowns and hearts.

It seems that children and parents are waking up to the real dangers of this drug, as in 2003 National Survey on Drug Use and Health revealed that among youth aged 12 to 17, 41 percent fewer said they had used ecstasy in the last month. However, many children still experience:

* 15 percent of those aged 18-25 have tried

* One of nine adolescents showed

Despite these many, nearly half of parents (41 percent) have never talked to their children about Ecstasy, according to SAMHSA, 90 percent believe it is a very risky drug to use.

Be careful if your child suddenly starts transport-related items with ecstasy

Tackle following are often transported by ecstasy users, or to stimulate the senses, hiding pills or relieve the tightening jaw:

* The lollipops

* A backpack as a child

Many children are attracted by short-term "good feelings "that creates ecstasy, but here is a sign of permanent damage, even ecstasy pill can cause:

* Renal

* Liver and heart failure

If you suspect that your child may be using this medicine, check box to the right of 17 warning signs, it is important to talk to him immediately. Of course, talk openly with their children the dangers of using drug well before they reach adolescence is one of the best preventative measures you can take.
