Shorter-term treatment does offer sufficient time to eliminate the addictive substance from the body but is usually not sufficient for the patient to master the skills required to function drug and alcohol-free in everyday life.

The needs of the alcoholic and drug addict are unique and being aware of the options available for treatment will make selecting an alcohol or drug abuse treatment program easier and more successful.

I personally know two people that drugs affected. My sister was using Heroin for many years as much as 25 yrs. Didn”t know
it until she was put into the hospital, kidneys failing, heart valve

The second is my stepmothers sisters son 29 yrs old. Got married he gets addicted to Heroin, in and out of drug rehab, been to jail for drug offenses. His mother is devastated he goes back to his addicted wife no doubt will fall off again. We as Parents and adults when we say stay away from drugs it means just that.
