Drug Treatment Dementia

Early onset dementia symptoms are not always easy to spot, or diagnose. Dementia can be defined as a persistent decline in intellectual function:

It involves:

  • Memory
  • Problem Solving
  • And Learning

It is characterized by:

  • Short-Term Memory Loss
  • The Inability to complete everyday, simple tasks
  • Confusion
  • Impaired Judgment (such as walking into traffic); getting lost in familiar places
  • And Paranoia

  • If you forget where you put your glasses, you are forgetful
  • If you forget you wear glasses, you may have dementia
  • If you have some memory loss, but it does not interfere with normal activities, you probably do not have

    dementia
  • Also considered a dementia, or causes of dementia, are nervous system diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, Pick’s disease, and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

What Can We Do To Prevent Dementia?

We have all heard the expression: Use it or loose it. That is very true of dementia.

A trial in the journal Nature by Dr. Arthur Kramer, a neuroscientist at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, found not just Slower Declines but Actual Improvements in working memory, attention and executive skills in older adults (average age 72) after six months of an aerobic exercise program – specifically, 45 minutes to an hour of walking, three times a week.

Dr Kramer said “If exercise were a pill, it would be the most expensive drug on the market,”

And next, Keep Your Brain Challenged. Do puzzles and other brain games to stimulate the brain. Learn a different language. Keep up with social activities, get involved with people and projects. Volunteer, if you don’t have alot of friends nearby. Helping other people will help your mind and your body.

Most elderly people are on more than one prescription medication. A reaction to a drug or drugs is another important thing to be on the lookout for. Drug side effects can look like dementia. This did happen to a friend of ours. The result could be, a doctor will put you on even more drugs, and the problem could go on undetected. And don’t forget to eat an anti inflammation diet. You just might delay the onset of dementia.

Diane Michel is an online researcher on the subject of inflammation. You can find out more insights and latest research into how inflammation could be a Cause of Dementia and more at:

Dementia drug use ‘killing many’,180,000 given the drugs, lots of profit? Like taking candy from a baby?

    OOPS should read ‘demented’
“Dementia drug use ‘killing many’180,000 patients a year are given the drugs.
Treatment was unnecessary in nearly 150,000 cases !
And was linked to 1,800 deaths.”

Do you trust your prescription drugs?

This has been going on for years now – a good tip to avoid all of this is not too grow old. All these ‘nursing/care homes’ (money making businesses) want is peace and quite – thats all – anyone disputing anything in those places are and will be given drugs to keep them ‘quiet’ and nobody is going to question it – they are a law unto themselves.

When families have had enough of the ‘loved one’ (mum or dad) that poor person is ‘dumped’ into one of these care homes (and all but forgotten) on the basis of ‘out of sight – is out of mind’ – not in every single case – but most cases – and then they have the cheek to tell other people that the loved one enjoys staying at wherever that poor person has been dumped when in fact its a ‘terror experience’ for them.!! Whilst the illness of dementia is so crippling and in some cases causes changes in the personalty of some people – drugs have too be given – but not all should be treated the same way as is now adays.

Are drugs too be trusted ? – I suppose in most cases they do a good job and aid recovery quicker – but given just for the sake of giving them then no. We are all at the mercy of these doctors with regard to being given drugs – we the public can only hope they do the job they are supposed too do – we (public) are not experts in the knowledge of drugs – so we ‘have’ to trust them.

When a Man Loves a Woman

When a Man Loves a Woman

    $2.89

When a Man Loves a Woman is a dumb title (not another classic pop song, please) for a very smart movie. A kind of gender-switch take on The Lost Weekend, it’s about a woman (Meg Ryan) whose alcoholism almost destroys her family. That may sound like just another TV movie, but When a Man Loves a Woman is so authentic in detail and emotion, that everything about it seems fresh, urgent, and engrossing…

    28 Days (Special Edition)

    $2.93

To appreciate 28 Days, it’s best to be thankful that director Betty Thomas hasn’t forced Sandra Bullock into a remake of Clean and Sober. Instead Thomas has balanced her comedic sensibility (evident in Dr. Dolittle and Private Parts) with the seriousness of alcoholism and substance abuse, and she succeeds without compromising the gravity of the subject matter. Some critics have scoffed at the mov…
