Drug Rehabilitation
What are the steps to becoming a psychologist in drug rehab?

I am a junior in high school and was considering looking at psychology in college. and I realize that I'd be more interested in working in a rehabilitation center and wondered where she was going to start? as I have in college, as well as psychology and so on

Most people working in rehabs have had substance abuse problems their own. You will not see many psychologists working in rehabs, find psychiatrists, and who can prescribe medications, psychologists can not. In recent weeks, I've seen several people who work in rehabs ask about, I'll say the same: More than 90% of the rehabilitation centers in the U.S. are based 12step, AA / NA. The Most of the rest are of Narconon, a Scientology-based program, or largely religious. The courts, government agencies and assistance programs for employees 12step rehabs mandate. Almost everyone who works at a rehabilitation center 12step have had their own problems with alcohol and drugs and are AA / NA members. I am sure they do not want to leave and become an alcoholic or addicted to qualify. The pay is not very good, and there is a high turnover due to relapses, but many people working in rehabs have a history of irregular employment and any criminal record for what is the best they can do. What you can do is take some courses and Human Services First, see if that is what you really want to do. In the last twenty years, courts governing 16 states have ruled that AA is "religious" 12step mandate and treatment as a violation of the Establishment Clause. Hopefully, sooner. What this means to you is that there are more opportunities of treatment that is not based 12step the coming years. I am a mental health worker, I work for a program of ACT (Assertive Community Treatment), mainly those with coexisting problems of substance abuse. Our method of motivational interviewing with our customers. About half of all people with impaired have mental health substance abuse problems and about half the people with substance abuse problems have a mental illness. Integrated treatment, treatment of both problems is a growing field. It has been found to be counterproductive to use two different methods of treatment, especially when they are often at odds each other. Feel free to email me.
