Drug Rehab For Teenagers

Christopher Smith’s Third Party Article # 12
How was I able to get rid of my addictions? I spent some time at an upscale detox center in California called Pur Detox. Before I move on any further, let me tell you why I ended up in an upscale rehab center and became the person I am now. Detox For Executives
My dad was an untreated alcoholic and my mom was apathetic about dad’s dependency on alcohol and I am their only child. Most of my childhood is a blur due to my father’s drunken rages and my mom and me taking off in the car to hide out.
Dad’s doctors suggested he take Antibuse but he didn’t do it. Mom did all her best so that Dad could take the pills everyday but she grew tired of it and our life in general. Then she met another man when I was a teenager and we left my dad.
It was too late for me, though. I was already getting drunk by the time I was 15.
Although I had been a good daughter and an above average student, my heart ached. I crave for attention from my parents. Instead, my home life was filled with turmoil that surrounded my dad’s drinking and the drama that it caused.
Being a good kid was not getting me the attention that I desired. Looking back, I realized what went wrong. I thought I might as well get a negative attention than no attention at all. So I began doing things which would definitely catch my parents attention. I cut classes, didn’t do my homework and even lied to my mom and my teachers. I was hooked into shoplifting and I constantly drank with kids whom I believed were my friends. Detox For Professionals
After several months, I noticed that mom was acting a bit different towards me. Suddenly she seemed to be on a mission to save me. It worked for a while. I was able to finish high school and became a successful travel agent. I loved what I was doing – the challenge of my work, being around with clients, most of whom are executives. It was the life I wanted. I wanted to enjoy the finer things in life, probably because my own life had been all about barely scraping by for so long.
I was close to reaching the fifth year in my career when things began to fall out of control. I was engaged but did not heed the red flags. He was like my father a lot. My mom tried to talk me out of it but I didn’t listen to her. The next thing I knew, I was enjoying champagne at the company’s Christmas party and from thereon, my life began to fall apart once again. I had so much to lose this time.
It was my mom and stepdad who took me to Pur Detox in Laguna Beach. At first, I didn’t like the idea of going to the rehab. I thought of musty, dingy and prison-like confinement together with people from the streets. My fears were way off from reality.
Pur Detox was like staying at a luxury resort, with the added benefit of being able to focus on myself and my recovery. Love must begin within myself. Loving myself enough to stick with the medically supervised program at Pur Detox has been the greatest gift that I could ever receive. Most of all, I have learned to love and accept others unconditionally. Detox Program
