Lysosome and detoxification of drugs?
I know that smooth ER is responsible for the detoxification of drugs. But it is also responsible for lysosome drug detoxification since its purpose is to make intracellular digestion?
Not really. Other types of organelles called peroxisomes really help detoxify what is in the blood and intracellular space. Lysosome are scavengers "of the cell, but to digest what is not needed, which is then sent to unit Golgi, and packaged in a vacuole for transport in the extracellular space.
