Drug Abuse Treatment Plan
Drug Abuse Treatment Plan

Alcoholism treatment is one of the most powerful tools of fighting addiction. Starting from the traditional method of Alcoholics Anonymous, cognitive behavioral therapy and medicines, we now have the non religious programs which are one of the successful and widely practiced scientific method of curing alcoholics. Today, most of the alcoholism Treatment Centers are turning over from the religious method of Alcoholics Anonymous to the non-religious residential and social programs.
The programs aim to assist patients to permanently overcome the problem of substance abuse. It is also the only program which has incorporated the scientific research and break through that has been made in the study of alcoholics. This program has been continuously evolving to bring measures to help in the long term success. It greatly differs from all long term processes which imbibe the clients to think that they are not responsible for the choices and that alcoholism is a disease. The program puts the responsibility on the choices that has been made and it transforms the patients to positive life style by depending on sheer will power. In most of the alcoholism treatment centers the program is carried out through a series of steps like:
1. In week one, the facilities focus on the orientation and the process itself. In most of the cases the patients fail to admit their powerlessness under the substance and the circumstances at which they are presently addict. Even if alcoholism is a disease or a choice, at all cases one must try to overcome their situation and develop their inner strength to fight through the eventualities that are to come. This is a residential program. As such the lack of power of individual against alcohol is treated with in the facility.
2. In weeks two, three and four, the program focuses on the assessment of the events that has lead the individual to become an alcoholic. Through this study the addicts are to lead to their underlying problems and negative behavioral patterns that incorporated an alcoholic trait into him. In the next possible step the patients are taught how to change the behavior and how they can expand on their positive traits.
3. In weeks five and six, which is also the last step of the program, the patients are instigated to focus on the values that they treasure. They are inspired to follow their natural talents and to rediscover what they want. It also emphasizes on the fact and the process that the change towards a positive future should always be encouraged. The future plan should include the spiritual goal as it should the family and their career.
In the alcoholism treatment centers, the coach teaches method and approaches by which old problems can be removed and new responsibilities can be implemented. The program s logically and solely dependent on the patient’s choice and their will to overcome the challenges and to embrace what may come in the way. The main focus of the non religious programs is on happiness.
Before you make a decision on getting substance abuse treatment, be sure to check out a Alcoholism Treatment Center and ask them questions so you may make an informed decision on which place is right for you. Finding the right Alcoholism Treatment Centers may be time consuming so you may want to ask the facilities a number of questions and then make an educated decision on what is best for you and your needs based on the research you have gained. First of all you have to make sure that she’s involved every step of the way. She needs to be consulted and kept at the centre of her treatment plan. You should use a model or framework in order to help you make sense of the process and provide direction for both of you. Egan’s skilled helper model is a really useful tool to have. It allows you to help the client determine their own goals and for you both to devise strategies which will help get her there. There are also a variety of therapies that can be used, cognitive behaviour therapy may help or you could try Roger’s person centred approach. She will have major self esteem issues and it is important these are addressed.
