Information on lamictal abuse?
I’m doing a paper on prescribed medication and I chose Lamictal from a list my teacher has assigned. I can’t seem to find anything on the abuse of this drug, if any abuse has been done.

Lamictal has little to no potential for recreational abuse the way Xanax or Adderall does because it is not a fast-acting drug. Drugs that have to build up in your system over time like antidepressants and many mood stabilizers have little value on the street because you can’t “get high” off of them. Also, Lamictal has the risk for a deadly skin rash known as Stevens Johnson Syndrome if taken in large doses without titrating over time, which makes it not a prime choice for abuse.
Of course there are always issues with people who are prescribed this drug for bipolar disorder and abuse it by taking it other than how the doctor prescribed it. They might take too much thinking that if 150 mg works a little, then 500 mg will probably work a LOT and make them feel much better… which can be dangerous and even deadly reasoning. They may also abuse the drug by trying to overdose on it, taking a whole bottle at a time with the intent of killing themselves.
I looked on Google Scholar but could find no sources regarding Lamictal (lamotrigine) and its risk for abuse. The only articles I saw were in support of its use in patients with bipolar and borderline personality disorder, who are at a greater risk for substance abuse as a whole, because the mood stabilizing properties of the Lamictal curbed their substance abuse tendencies.
