Call All The Parents You Know Your Teen Is Hanging With:

I know and understand that we all want our lives under wraps and we don’t want to expose ourselves to other people. We are private and not wanting to let other people into our lives. But for the sake of you teen you need to make contact with those parents your teenager is hanging out with.

This does several things. One it allows you to build an alliance with other parents who may have been suspecting their own kid is using. It also warns other parents that there child may be using. It also lets you know the character of the teens your child is hanging with. You will be able to tell by the way they respond to your phone call.

Find Out Where Your Teen Is Getting Their Drugs:

One teenager I use to counsel use to go to a local park to get high and get their drugs. I later found out that it was a major hang out for the teens and a place where they all went after hours. This was in an affluent neighborhood and place that was known for raising your kids. But it also had the dark side where the kids caught up in all types of trouble use to hang out.

This helped the parents because if there was a relapse or their teen ended up missing they knew where to go.

Reestablish Communication With Your Teen:

This is perhaps the best thing you can do when it comes to dealing with your teenager. Communication is the most important weapon you have in your arsenal when it comes to helping your teenager recover from drug use. It will be rocky at first but without communication you will never have the entire picture of what is taking place in the life of your teen.

I want to contact a free counseling service for teens, but I’m worried my problems aren’t important enough?

I’m wanting to contact Kids Help Line, but I’m worried my problems aren’t big enough, not as important as other kid’s… I mean, some kids who need help are on drugs, have parents who abuse them. My problems are tiny:

I’m in this cycle where I’ll only eat dinner then I’ll eat way too much then I’ll only eat dinner then, well, you know what. I’m 5’5 and 85 pounds. So not even underweight. And I’ve eaten so much lately.

I scratch myself with my fingernails because I feel like I deserve to suffer and feel pain, and I have 4 wounds on my right arm, and a scar on my left hand.

I try to distance myself from my friends, because spending time with them would be enjoying myself, which I don’t deserve, but sometimes I spend time with them anyway.

Should I just shake it off and get on with life?

A problem is a problem. Get help if you need it. You are as important as anyone else on the planet.
