How do I get help for and alcoholic?
I am deeply in love with a man whos drinking has now become a problem, he has said it too. However, we are both lost on what to do. I have insurance but he doesnt so all the help we know about he cant get. How do I find information on in house rehab and AA centers? does anyone have any stories on how they found help and how much it costs? Thank you for helping, I want him to get help and yes I am willing to go with him, I understand that I too am going to need some help understanding an alcholic especially since we have been together for a long time. I love him and will never give up on him.
Yes I know about AA however I want something that will give him 24 hr treatment not just a meeting once a week. I live in Michigan and funding and meetings have closed and are tight. If you know anything about Michigan you will understand how hard it is to find help, especially if you dont havent served time

The first and hardest step has already been completed – The fact that he has accepted he has got a problem is usually the biggest hurdle and with your support he can only get better. Alcoholism is a disease not just a habit that needs to be broken. Rehab can work, but sometimes it can have adverse effects. I had an alcoholic partner who went into rehab for 9 weeks and got chucked out for taking drugs, even though he hadn’t taken anything for over 7 years. He had an addictive personality and needed a replacement for the alcohol. The experience didn’t help him, it merely shifted his addiction from one substance to another. Not that I tell you this to put you off, just to say don’t rely solely on rehab. I could talk on this subject for ages, as i have been where you are now, so know all the feelings and practicalities that go with this situation. I don’t want to ramble on for too much longer!!! So please feel free to email me any questions or if you just need someone to sound off on. I know thats what i needed when I was going through it.
