Just looked up this excellent beer online and it is the only one in the Sam Adams range that seems to be singled out for this treatment. I’m assuming it has something to with its strength, but all the same, why such widespread ‘nanny culture’ ? in the U.S.? Overall there seems to be a some funny attitudes towards alcohol flying around. Having moved here from Scotland I find it amazing hardly any beers have the A.B.V. (% alcohol) marked on them. In the UK it is the law they must have that. I’m beginning to think it must be that most Americans cant handle their drink. There seems to be a lot of pretty weak beer around and nobody seems to want to know the strength of them. They seem happy to remain oblivious !
Nothing to do with handling our drinks. After all, there are folks drinking white lightning on a daily basis.
Its the ABC board of each state. Beer has alcohol limits because some states sell beer in supermarkets. Alcohol above a state determined percentage must be called malt liquor or wine. And Distilled spirits have their own category. In my state, you can buy beer in a grocery store but not wine. Wine and spirits are in a liquor store. Every state is different
