I personally recommend 1000 mg of lysine three times a day, even if you have an active outbreak.
In addition, take of vitamin C to help strengthen your immune system will definitely help and if you do not already have a cold sore, but you start and get the itch to perform this procedure in 5 steps (at least the first stage), often will prevent the cold sore to erupt first.
