Washington Drug Addiction

In 2007, about 38,000 people have entered a kind of addiction treatment in Washington State. Approximately 32,000 people among those who were admitted for some form of drug abuse. Many drugs have a significant presence in the State Washington. Heroin cocaine and marijuana are the drugs most important, and the three of them have a strong presence in Washington. Methamphetamine is the newcomer, rapidly growing since I started gaining popularity in the years 1980 and 1990. This article does not cover the pot because it tends to be very different from most destructive addictions such as heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine dependence.

heroin addiction in Washington

Heroin abuse is a problem in Washington, but perhaps not as great as in other parts of the nation. 2495 people were admitted for heroin use in the State Washington, which are ~ 6.5% of those admitted for substance abuse below the national average of 13.6%. Heroin abuse is focus not in a particular area of Washington and abused throughout the state.

Cocaine addiction in Washington

2.163 people (5.7% of admissions) were admitted to smoking crack and other 763 (3.6%) was for treatment of snorting cocaine. Compared to national averages of 9.4% and 3.7% this puts cocaine abuse in Washington under the national average. However, cocaine is still available Washington and smuggling in general in Washington, from Mexico through California. In Washington, the crack is more commonly used in small income urban areas, while cocaine is consumed by inhalation by a demographic profile over the middle class.

Washington dependence Methamphetamine

In Washington state, methamphetamine and methamphetamine is well above average nationals. 6378 people (16.7%) were admitted to the facility for the abuse of amphetamines, more than double the national average of 7.7%. Amphetamines still not as common in Washington and Oregon and California neighbor, but is a relatively important within the state. Interestingly, Since 2003, incidents of meth labs in Washington have declined from 1,018 in 2003 to 122 in 2007. This indicates the removal of the application national legislation on methamphetamine labs. As the methods of local laboratory were closed, most drugs were supplied by traffickers of methamphetamine from Mexico. Methamphetamine also tends to be less of a drug environment urban, with most users of methamphetamine based outside major cities.
