What is emotional sobriety?
Emotional sobriety is a set of psychological "self" skills which are essential to achieve a successful recovery. It is both, "foundation" and the long term "task" of recovery. includes emotional sobriety – but not limited to – the ability to:
- be familiar and comfortable with emotions
- feel calm and strong in times of stress
- effectively deal with difficult emotions like fear, pain, sadness and frustration
- cultivate an optimistic
- stability of mood
- develop sustainable and rewarding relationship bonds
- achieve an overall balance between body, mind, spirit, relationships, etc.
What is the difference between the Emotional sobriety and abstinence? "
Just words, abstinence is not recovery. Not only the cessation of behavior addictive – the starting point of recovery. Withdrawal can last a day, a week or indefinitely. I stopped now use, why I have no emotional sobriety?

When emotions are associated with seizures or pain, people can become "emotion phobic and you want to flee or avoid feeling through addictive behaviors. They may turn to alcohol, drugs, food, sex or money to try to achieve a feeling of satisfaction and tranquility. The solution becomes the problem, however, that psychological needs are not legitimate, and increasing difficulties in the crisis of addiction.

- To be able to recognize and "collaborate" with their emotions that teachers and allies who are there to tell you what you need, if their needs are met, and that life circumstances may require adjustments to meet their needs.
- To build trust, satisfaction and resilience that comes from dealing with their emotions directly and effectively, rather than self-medication to avoid pain
- To become the person you want to be – so that their actions are consistent with their values and aspirations for your life
How to develop emotional sobriety?
emotional sobriety begins with understanding what it means to a full recovery – Wellness psychologically linked to the end of addictive behaviors. In other words, learning to accept emotions and under the pessimistic thinking again not self-medicate with substances or compulsive behaviors, is the foundation of recovery. The next step is to channel this knowledge in the commitment necessary to succeed. People in recovery need to identify the curves psychological "learning" – Areas in your emotional life that require healing, development and support. This can be solved loss, injury or trauma of the past. It can also mean anxiety or depression to overcome in the present. emotional recovery is a task that is difficult to achieve in isolation. Counseling can help people overcome their addiction to overcome psychological barriers as they gain the balance emotional, a healthy and positive coping skills.
