Alcohol Rehab Portland Maine
Alcohol Rehab Portland Maine
Some years back I remember a story about a prominent athlete that took too many painkillers, mixed them with supplements, and as a result had to go to the hospital. Whether he was trying to commit suicide or just made a stupid mistake, he teaches us a very valuable lesson that in my opinion didn’t get enough press at the time or since.
As an athlete, you need to be very careful when you take any sort of medication.
If you are taking painkillers, your judgment is going to be impaired. You are not going to get the same feedback from your body that you would normally be getting, so you can more easily injure yourself by doing too much without any sort of warning signs. You can make an injury worse than it already is or easily sustain a new injury.
Your body also isn’t going to have the same capability to fuel yourself during your workout, and depending upon the medication you can easily become dehydrated faster than you are used to. If you are dehydrated, then the medication may not work correctly and what might be a normal dosage for a rested person could easily become an overdose.
You should never under any circumstances drink any sort of alcohol when you are taking painkillers, whether they are prescription or not. Almost all drugs will usually have adverse reactions that you do not want to experience.
Taking other supplements and other drugs at the same time as your painkiller should be avoided if possible as well. If you do need to take some sort of daily medicine or supplement, clear it with your doctor or pharmacist before taking any of the drugs.
Drugs interact with one another in sometimes unpredictable ways, and if your doctor does not know that you are taking something they could prescribe the wrong medication. Once you start taking the drugs, your judgment is going to be impaired and you may not make the best decisions and can accidentally mix more of the drugs together in your system.
In the specific case I recall, the athlete in question took some pain killers and mixed them with some of his normal supplements. They did not mix well, and he became groggy and accidentally took more of the pain medication because he didn’t realize he’d already taken it. When he was asked questions by the paramedics, he had no idea what was going on and was lucky that he didn’t do any sort of permanent damage to himself.
The next time that you feel you need to take some sort of pain medication for any reason, be smart. Dial back your training, follow your doctor’s orders, and avoid mixing the meds with anything else that might react and cause you problems.

Is there an alcohol rehab in Portland, Maine?
Can I find an alcohol rehab in Portland? I want to enter an alcohol rehab because I want to get away from my personal relationship with tequila. I know that I have to stay away from it. It’s like I’ve forgotten how life feels like when you’re sober. Please help me. I’m also doing this for my 6-year-old daughter Stephanie. I don’t want her to grow up with an alcoholic mother.
Alcohol rehabs are ubiquitous. You can find it almost anywhere. I’m sure Maine has several of them.
