Alcohol Addiction Recovery
2 weeks into recovery from addiction?

From Alcohol, tough going but worth it. I have noticed I have excess hunger and constantly want food, is this normal?

Any advice, much appreciated?

Congratulations – you made a great decision! Just remember that its always worth it, even when it feels like its not.

My addiction was to Ativan. Its a tranquilizer. When I finally got off it, and started to recover from the addiction, I noticed a lot of things changed. I wanted to eat too, and I wanted to be outside, and I wanted to do more things. Your body is probably saying “HEY, where is all that sugar you were giving me when you were drinking?” and so it wants food. Did you used to eat when you drank? I never ate when I was on Ativan. So when your body is able to ‘wake up’ from all that, it craves what you haven’t been giving it!

If you stick to lean protein and keep the carbs down, you can get through this with no adverse effects (weigh gain if that is what you are worried about). Just keep up the good work! You are doing great!
